Often we find ourselves stressed throughout the workday because we have this one big project or difficult task that is really tricky or complicated, and we don’t end up getting to it. We say we’ll do it the next day but at the end of tomorrow it’s not complete either.

What is Eat the Frog? 🐸

I started using the Eat the Frog technique a few months back and it changed my life tbh.

Typically I would check my emails / notifications and just do whatever task was most recently assigned to me, or whatever task has a deadline coming up. This held me back from doing the task that “moves the needle” or makes a big impact on your life, whether professional or personal.

The idea is honestly quite simple… The Eat the Frog technique is an approach to prioritising tasks by tackling the most difficult or unpleasant task first. This strategy is based on the idea that it is better to get the most challenging task out of the way first, allowing the rest of the day to be easier and more productive.

I know it doesn’t sound fun, but it works really really well.

For each day, assign a “frog” that you have to eat first thing in the morning. Once that task is complete, the rest of the day will be a breeze compared to the frog you had earlier in the day.
